Project Overview

The Ngukurr Community Housing Project rounded out as a successful contract for SHBuild, with sound results across Indigenous workforce engagement, IBE participation and community involvement. The scope comprised the design and construction of new community housing using cyclone-rated Bondor panel systems, complete with new kitchens, bathrooms, laundries, verandahs, rainwater tanks, driveways, perimeter fencing and full water, sewer and power mains connections. Ngukurr sits on the banks of the Roper River in southern Arnhem Land, around 640 kilometres south-east of Darwin, with road access along the Roper Highway and flight options through the wet. Over five months on site, SHBuild developed close partnerships with Yugul Mangi Aboriginal Corporation, Traditional Owners and the broader Ngukurr community. Across the project, 69 tradespeople and labourers were assembled from communities throughout the Top End.
