Project Overview

The Staff Accommodation Quadplex on Bathurst Island was a strong result for SHBuild, supporting local development, Darwin and NT business participation and Indigenous workforce engagement. The scope comprised a ground penetrating radar (GPR) survey to confirm existing underground services, site preparation and demolition of vegetation, construction and fit-out of the new accommodation building with all associated service connections, and landscape and fencing works. Sitting in the Tiwi Islands, 80 kilometres north of Darwin, the site is remote Top End country accessed by barge from East Arm. SHBuild had crew on the ground for ten months and established strong working relationships with the Tiwi Land Council, Traditional Owners and the local community. Across the duration of the project, 77 tradespeople and labourers passed through the site, sourced from across the Top End.
