Project Overview
The Warruwi Duplex and Two-House Project marked a strong delivery for SHBuild with positive outcomes across Indigenous workforce engagement, IBE participation and community involvement. The scope comprised the design and construction of a 3-bedroom duplex, a 3-bedroom house and a 2-bedroom house using cyclone-rated Bondor panel systems, complete with new kitchens, bathrooms, laundries, verandahs, rainwater tanks, driveways, perimeter fencing and full water, sewer and power mains connections. Warruwi sits on South Goulburn Island in Mawng country, around 280 kilometres north-east of Darwin off the Arnhem Land coast, with the community accessed by barge from the mainland. SHBuild was on site within the community for over five months, forging close networks and relationships with local service providers. Over the course of the contract, 50 tradespeople and labourers worked on the site recruited from communities across the Northern Territory.
