Project Overview

The Yirrkala Home Build Package 3 project involved the civil design and construction of eight new dwellings in the remote East Arnhem Land community of Yirrkala on the Gove Peninsula. Each home was delivered complete with new kitchens, bathrooms and all associated services connections, providing high quality and functional housing for the local community.

The project successfully incorporated local Indigenous workers and local business participation throughout delivery, with a total of 94 local workers engaged, including 14 Indigenous workers. Despite challenges encountered during construction, including site changes due to the discovery of ACM, SH Build maintained compliance with all contract quality requirements through inspections, ITPs and audits, achieving successful project outcomes in a complex remote environment.
